Do you ever find yourself replaying conversations or situations over and over in your mind? Maybe you worry about what you said, how someone reacted, or whether you made the “right” decision.

This is called overthinking, and it happens to almost everyone. The problem is, the more we overthink, the less we trust our own instincts. Small details start to feel huge, and decisions that should feel simple become overwhelming.

Why Overthinking Happens

Overthinking usually comes from one of three places:

Wanting to avoid mistakes Doubting yourself or your instincts Worrying about what others think

When your mind gets stuck in this cycle, it’s hard to see things clearly.

How to Break Free

The key is not to force your thoughts to make sense on your own. Instead:

Step back: Give yourself space to pause. Talk it through: Express your thoughts to someone neutral who will listen. Ask simple questions: What is really bothering me? What matters most in this situation?

Even just talking aloud with a calm listener can untangle your thoughts and help you hear your own instincts more clearly.

Regain Confidence in Yourself

Overthinking loses its power when you give yourself a space to process it safely.

By learning to trust your instincts and see your situation more clearly, you start making decisions with confidence instead of doubt.
